Incredible Edibles School of the Week | Dromagh NS, Co Cork

April 6, 2022

Michael Geary

Congratulations to this week’s Incredible Edibles School of the Week, Edel Sheehan’s Junior Infants to Second Class, in Dromagh NS, Co Cork.

As part of task three, the children have been looking after the seedlings daily, watching for any growth, and bringing them in and out of the classroom each day.

The children have been carefully keeping an eye out for any growth and are very excited. The first vegetables the pupils noticed that have the most sprouts are turnips. The spinach and carrots are just beginning to grow. They have been taking very good care of the plants. The classes are all excited.

Ms Sheehan told Agri Aware:

“We have planted all seeds, strawberry plants and potatoes. All children have participated in these activities. We are all taking care of our plants and have two teams of gardeners. Our team for this week take out the plants each day and place them in the warm sunshine.

“Plants are checked and watered every day if needed. The children are very excited as all of the seed pots have now sprouted, with one child noticing one sprout.

“In task three of the Incredible Edibles programme, these students were busy planting their strawberries, potatoes and seeds. They are all taking care of our plants and have two teams of gardeners. They are looking after our seedlings each day, monitoring their growth, and taking them in and out of the classroom each day.

“The sprouts are in a new pot today, this made for great excitement! The children love the responsibility of taking the plants in and out each day. We have left the potatoes outside and are waiting eagerly for the fist signs of growth. The children loved planting the seeds and are thoroughly enjoying taking care of them.”
