The winner of the Agri Aware and Alltech AgCredible Social media competition has been announced as Katie Shanahan.
The panel of judges were impressed by Katie’s efforts over the course of the competition which ran for the month of November. Katie winsd a trip to the AllTech One Ideas Conference in Kentucky with Flights and accomodation, courtesy of Alltech.

“The judging panel said after announcing Katie as the AgCredible Social Media competition winner:
“The standard in this year’s #AgCredible social media competition was superb, but of the 19 shortlisted finalists there was one person whom each judge agreed epitomised Agri Aware’s mission and the #AgCredible competition brief though their social media.
“Katie Shanahan’s Instagram profile @k8_eeee showcases everything that is positive about Irish agriculture. She gives us great insights into her everyday life as a female farmer, without shying away from the challenges she faces both within and outside her farm walls. For balance, we see lots of snippets of her social life too, as she shows that farmers ‘can do both’.
“Katie’s meteoric rise across various social media platforms indicates that the general public are keen to engage with content like this.
“Katie is fast becoming part of a new cohort of Agri-Influencers who have a hugely important role in connecting consumers to the food on their plates.”

The prize is a trip to the Alltech ONE Conference in Kentucky in May 2022. Full delegate pass, flights and three nights’ accommodation for one person.
Agri Aware and Alltech continue to work together on the AgCredible initiative as we try to help those in Agriculture tell their positive stories about sustainability and the science behind the practice.
The competition ran over social media throughout the month of November following the first in-person event, we were able to to attend at The Killeshin Hotel.
