Agri Aware Farmyard returns to Bord Bia Bloom in the Park

May 27, 2022

Agri Aware in conjunction with Bord Bia, are set to host the Bloom Farmyard, located in the middle of the food village at this year’s Bloom Festival from June 2nd to 6th. Come see us at Stand 16.

In a slight change to previous years, Agri Aware will be in the big green shed this time around.

On Thursday and Friday, over 700 primary school students from 30 different schools across the country, that are taking part in the Incredible Edibles programme, are set to attend. They will enjoy a tour of the farmyard, which features angus beef cattle, a dairy cow, and sheep.

Pigs and poultry will be virtual attractions, with interactive QR codes on the day. There’s also a free colouring book for the pupils to bring home and enjoy.

Both the schools and public will get to meet and chat to the Agri Aware farmers, learn about food production and will even get to see sheep shearing and milking demonstrations through the day. There will be some spinning, weaving and craft activities.

Agri Aware’s Incredible Edibles will also feature in the Eat Well marquee, where they will take part in workshops about healthy eating, planting, and the importance of getting in your 7-a-day fruit and vegetables.

Our Agri Aware team members will take to the stage in the Eat Well Marquee over the weekend to teach children about the requirements for seed germination – heat, air, water, and soil importance. Homemade potted plants will be given out to the public with the anticipation of growing some vegetables and herbs in their own gardens!
