Primary Schools
Agri Aware have a number of ongoing initiatives at primary level. It is vital that people learn about this industry at a basic level from an early age and understand:
- Where their food comes from
- The importance of sourcing traceable Irish food
- Agriculture's contribution to the economy and creation of employment
- The role of the farmer in protecting their countryside
- Farm animals and the nature that surrounds them in their everyday environment
Agri Aware recently launched their Incredible Edibles Growing Challenge. A special kit containing growing bags, fruit and vegetable seeds, compost and educational resources will land on the doorstep of every primary school natiowide (almost 4,000. Other initiatives include the annual ‘Springtime on the Farm' art and colouring competition which receives almost 40,000 entries on an annual basis.
