Project Stages

Overall the project timeline is quite short.  Just like in real business you have to work keep moving forward to make your product or service succeed.  Remember, you do not have to make the product, but tell us how why and how your idea is potentially a real winner.  There are 3 key stages:

Stage 1: Entry, development and mentoring

Please click on the Online Entry Form to register by December 9. Upon registration you will receive a pack containing all required information to take part including guidelines for how to approach a business plan for your proposal and the required template to submit your idea.  In January a one page summary is required which outlines the project concept.  A specific document is contained in the project pack for this, or downloadable from the website. Following receipt of this, individual feedback will be given to each team proposal.

Stage 2: Final Project Submission

(See Product Development Process)

In February, the final project is due in. Two documents are required, a business plan and a marketing plan. Templates for each are provided in the pack or downloadable from the website. The website is full of hints and tips as well as an example of a completed project plan. The marketing plan may consist of a written script for a radio advert, a written script and drawing for an press advertisement or a story board for TV commercial. Each radio or TV advert can be no longer than 30 seconds and each press advert no larger than an A4 page.

Stage 3: The Pitch

For the regional heats, the panel will be provided with a copy of your business plan and marketing plan and you will be required to give a 5 minute (max) pitch for the project. The panel may then question you and comment on the project.   A decision will either be made within 48 hours.  If you are successful you will progress to the finale in late March and pitch in front of a celebrity panel and live audience.  The overall winner and runners up will be decided on the day.
