Agri Aware ran a consumer information campaign on the policy from September to October 2009. The campaign entitled CAP - a Better Fit for You, consisted of a consumer guide; national press advertising; billboard campaign; promotional activity at the National Ploughing Championships and a local food focused road show, with award-winning Chef Neven Maguire.
What is the CAP?
The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) is an European support system which regulates the production, sale and processing of all agricultural products in the EU.
How does this affect me?
By supporting the farming and food industry, CAP provides Irish consumers with a quality supply of reasonably priced Irish food. This means when you go shopping, you have a diverse range of safe Irish produce, benefiting your health and keeping your food bills relatively low. The policy also ensures Irish farmers can continue to be stewards of our countryside and protect our natural environment.
